We work hard to make our hiring process welcoming and transparent and make sure that every candidate feels prepared, informed, and set up for success. That’s why we sat down with our HR Business Partner Kate Seaborne to make sure you know what to expect once you’ve found a thisbank role that you think you’ll love.Q: What can you expect from thisbank during the hiring process?A: From a practical perspective, our hiring process starts with a CV application, followed by a few interview stages, depending on the seniority of the role. Throughout the process, we’ll stay in regular contact. We’ll set clear expectations and make sure you know what’s next. We’ve all been on the job hunt before – that’s why we try to make the experience transparent, supportive, and straightforward from start to finish.Q: What’s the first step in the thisbank hiring process?A: Team culture is really important to us, so before advertising a role, we take a step back to look at where the team is growing and what skills we need. This usually happens at the end of our financial year, but opportunities can appear whenever—so keep an eye on our careers page (or feel free to stalk us a little – we don’t mind!).If you spot a role that catches your eye, the first step is to submit your CV. Check the job advert carefully for any specific requirements and application deadlines. And remember, there’s more to a great application than what’s on your CV alone, so take a look at our blog on what we look for beyond your experience and qualifications.Q: Do I need to meet every requirement before I apply?A: Not at all! We do our best to be clear about what we’re looking for, but we don’t expect anyone to tick every box. At thisbank, we’re all about learning and developing, so if there are a few skills you’re missing, they can be picked up on the job. What’s most important to us is your potential. So don’t let a long list of requirements put you off applying. We love people who are curious, willing to ask questions, and confident enough to say, “I don’t know that yet, but I’m keen to learn.”Q: Can I use AI in my applications? And how do you use AI in the hiring process?A: thisbank is, and always will be, about people. So, we want to hear from you! AI can be useful for proofreading, but your skills, achievements and personality should do the talking. The most compelling applications are the ones that genuinely reflect the person behind them. From our side, every application is reviewed by a real person. For transparency, we use a built-in AI functionality to create a summary of your CV, so that your relevant skills and experience stand out.Q: I need support or adjustments during the application process. What should I do and what do these look like?A: We’re committed to making our hiring process accessible and inclusive for everyone. If you need any support, please contact us as soon as you’re invited to interview. We’ll work with you to provide reasonable adjustments and make sure that you have an equal chance of success!Q: What are your top tips for a successful application?A: My top tip – keep your CV clear and easy to read! This is our first chance to get to know you, so make sure that you’re putting your best foot forward. Focus on the experience, skills and achievements most relevant to the role, so we can quickly see the value you’ll bring to the team.Q: What’s the structure of the interview process?A: We hate wasting time, so we keep all stages short and purposeful. Depending on the role, you may be asked to complete a technical assessment or presentation, but we’ll provide clear instructions and plenty of time to prepare. Most of our interview processes are between 2 and 4 stages, and in some cases, you could receive an offer within just two weeks of applying.Q: How should I prepare for my interview?A: We’re very proud of everything we do at thisbank, so take time to read about the company. Take a look at the products we offer and understand how they work and what they aim to do.Another top tip: scroll through our LinkedIn.
